Gifts in Kind
Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville has received more than $1.5 million of gifts in kind -- donations that reduce the costs of building our homes. These donations have run the gamut and have included:
- reduced cost or free services from numerous building professionals, including carpentry, roofing, plumbing, HVAC and electrical contractors
- donations of fixtures such as door hardware and plumbing fixtures
- free or low-cost legal services for our closings and purchases of Sunrise and Southwood mobile home parks and other legal affairs
- donations of appliances and building supplies
- gifts of land
Habitat for Humanity International has created gift-in-kind partnerships with a number of national corporations, including Dow, Whirlpool, Yale Locks and others whose products go into every Habitat home nationally.
In addition to these donations that reduce our direct building costs, Habitat receives numerous in-kind donations to support our volunteer events, including food, tents, port-a-potty rentals, and other items that support our crews and volunteers.
