Do You Qualify?
More than 100 families in our area have successfully achieved their dream - a home of their own - through the Habitat for Humanity program. Please review our program requirements to see if you qualify and want to pursue the Habitat program.
To qualify to purchase a Habitat home, you need to:
Earn between 25%-60% of Area Median Income. These numbers vary depending on family size. Review the income guidelines.
Live in substandard housing. Click here to view our needs criteria.
Perform sweat equity. Your sweat equity is the required volunteer hours that include work on your home and the homes of others. If you have a disability or cannot work at the jobsite, we will gladly find other volunteer opportunities for you.
Attend home buyer education classes. These monthly classes help you prepare to purchase and own your home.
Make a down payment. You will make a modest down payment.
Be prepared to make monthly mortgage payments for 15-30 years. Habitat families pay for as much of the cost of their home as they can afford with a no-interest mortgage held by Habitat.
Finally, our program works best if you bring a can-do attitude and a willingness to partner with Habitat.
If you are prepared to make a serious long-term commitment and are ready to work toward achieving your dream of homeownership, we would love for you to apply. The Application and Selection page provides information about how to apply.
