Do You Qualify?

More than 100 families in our area have successfully achieved their dream - a home of their own -  through the Habitat for Humanity program. Please review our program requirements to see if you qualify and want to pursue the Habitat program.

To qualify to purchase a Habitat home, you need to:

• Earn between 25%-60% of Area Median Income.  These numbers vary depending on family size. Review the income guidelines.

• Live in substandard housing.  Click here to view our needs criteria. 

• Perform sweat equity.  Your sweat equity is the required volunteer hours that include work on your home and the homes of others. If you have a disability or cannot work at the jobsite, we will gladly find other volunteer opportunities for you.

• Attend home buyer education classes.  These monthly classes help you prepare to purchase and own your home.
  

• Make a down payment.  You will make a modest down payment.
  

• Be prepared to make monthly mortgage payments for 15-30 years. Habitat families pay for as much of the cost of their home as they can afford with a no-interest mortgage held by Habitat.

Finally, our program works best if you bring a can-do attitude and a willingness to partner with Habitat.
