What We Build
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville builds homes, neighborhoods and community.
We partner with hard-working, low-income local residents called Partner Families who join together with volunteers to build simple, decent, affordable homes. This building model has helped us serve more than 140 families since our affiliate's founding in 1991.
The high cost of land in the area, combined with a desire to create great communities and not just homes, has led us to our New Paradigm for Affordable Housing. The New Paradigm places an emphasis on mixed-income neighborhoods, denser housing types (such as duplexes, quadruplexes and even larger multifamily condo buildings) and green building.
