Welcome to Women Build
Women Build works to recruit, empower, and train women to build simple, decent, and affordable homes. The Women Build worksites provide a unique opportunity to learn construction skills and to build leadership and teamwork skills. The Greater Charlottesville Women Build program was founded in the fall of 2001.
Women Build has just finished construction of its sixth house, a duplex at 320-322 Valley Road Extended in Charlottesville. Women Build partnered with the Tyree family to build their home. Ms. Mary Schriber and District 1 Presbyterian Church co-sponsored the townhomes with Women Build. Construction began in September 2007 and ended in early summer 2008. The dedication ceremony will be Saturday, August 16, at 3:30. |
